tidal ocean hardware

mechanical design and reliability engineering for ocean hardware

During the summer of 2022, I was a mechanical engineering intern for ocean hardware design on project Tidal at X, the moonshot factory (formerly known as Google X). Tidal pioneers underwater AI and robotics technology to enable a more sustainable seafood industry while protecting the world’s oceans for future generations.

During my internship, I led module level reliability testing to downselect inserts and gaskets for a watertight seal in an ocean environment, including a presentation to senior leadership. I also worked cross functionally with manufacturing and product design to incorporate learnings from reliability failures into the next DVT build, which then passed all National Technical Systems (NTS) reliability tests. In addition, I designed and tested fixtures for monotonic tensile testing and chamber rigs for use in extreme ocean environments.
