apple silicon validation
current carrying capacity measurement device
During the summer of 2023, I was a mechanical design engineering intern on the Silicon Validation Hardware (SiVal-HW) team at Apple. I focused on developing specialized test systems to characterize the electrical and thermal performance of SOC socket architectures.
This project involved the end-to-end design and construction of a multi-modal test fixture to characterize the current carrying capacity of SOC sockets by simultaneously quantifying the current, force, and temperature of individual pogo pins. To support the system’s development, I orchestrated technical communications with external vendors to manufacture custom-designed components and subsequently collected, analyzed, and interpreted test data to verify pogo-pin performance against vendor specifications.
